Rome

Last night was too unpleasant/crazies that I must TUMBLR about it!  So Brandi and I took the train to Roma at 840 am (Kayvon woke up late and met us there), and we met Bridget and her 500 friends at the Trevi Fountain at 11!

Then Kayvon met us up about 15 minutes later and off to the Parthenon!

Then we went to the Spanish Steps and Bridget gave me a good laugh cause her and Kayla and Caroline were all taking lipstuck pictures! Made me miss all my girls at home.

Then we went to the Colosseum, then Kayvon, Brandi, and I split up with them and we went to Saint Peters Square.  We ate at this pretty nice restaurant and our waiter was really friendly!  I ate an ENTIRE “Pizza Contadino” (Farmer’s Pizza).

Btw, I was carrying around a 2L water bottle the whole day + my SLR so my bag was super heavy! But the water def came in handy later…

Then we went back to St. Peter’s just in time for sunset and saw the Basilica.

OMG “Who Got the Better Deal” is the BEST GAME EVAAAA haha love you Kayvon!  It’s pretty cruel/shallow but it’s so awesome when you’re waiting/peoplewatching.  You have to be in a group and you try to agree on who got the better deal in passerby couples.

Major food coma while walking, slowly, through the dimly lit massiveness that is St. Peter’s Basilica so then we went on a major quest to find me my first Sicilian cannoli—I know it was in Rome but I had an urge to eat one!  So we go to Piazza Navora? and finally find a pasticceria called Cinque Lune (Five Moons) and I got a mini cannoli! Pretty good then we went cappuccinos (for 6 whopping euro) at a nice restaurant and met up with Juliet.

Then we popped PROSECCO at the Trevi with our classy glasses :)

Then we power walked to the train station (Rome Termini) only to discover 5 minutes before our train was to depart that we were in the WRONG train station. -_- pretty annoying how Europe has multiple train stations per city.  We had to change our tickets twice to finally get a slow train from Rome to Pisa and then connect in Pisa to Florence at 4 am

So on the slow train I sat in between a smelly prostitute (who kept farting and moving around and elbowing me) and an intimidating black man aka couldn’t sleep for the entire 4 hour train ride.

We finally get to Flo at 530 am! B and I wait for the 548 bus back to our street and I get home, take a shower, make my bed, check my email, then zonk out.

Cinque Terre

Oh God.  Went to Cinque Terre today, five neighboring coastal cities on the Mediterranean with Tori, Brandi, and Xuanie—not a good day to go.  Basically you hike from one town to the other.  It was cloudy and brisk (which actually I preferred to hot and sunny just cause we were hiking) but the last leg of the hike it POURED. As in fake movie set showers.  Tori and Brandi decided to take the train from the 4th town to the 5th town, but of course I insisted on hiking it hahha super dumb move :B cause this is what happened…

and i had no other clothes to wear so i had to be miserable and cold for the three hour train ride home. :(

I know I ever really update this anymore, i get lazy so i guess just look at my fb albums :DD

OKTOBERFEST

No joke best weekend ever!!!!

Left Firenze at 12 midnight on Thursday night; 9 hour bus ride to Munich.  Get there at 9ish, drop off our bags at the hostel and then eat lunch in a beautiful square!!!!

Then time for the best drunk bike tour of life!!!

Munich is such a beautiful city.  Got back to the hostel around 5 pm then got ready and went to the tents. Drank probably 3 L of the best beer that day! Then got a falafel sandwich while walking home in the rain and went to bed.

Next morning, woke up late, ate breakfast, hung out and talked in the room with Tori and Kayvon then made our way (cold and damp) to the Oktoberfest grounds!!! Couldn’t get in to meet up with the other girls so I went up to a table of random but hooot guys and said “can i sit with you guys?” luckily they spoke English, Italian, and Spanish.  Next came the best 7 hours of the weekend!!!! So fun meeting new people.

Ricardo and Franc are so nice!  Drank probs 1.5 L and unfortunately broke the seal and had to go pee literally every 30 min after that. :( But it was okay cause people let me cut :D

Went home around 730 pm, ate an orange around 10 pm,and then proceeded to vomit once per hour throughout the rest of the night.  Never eat something acidic on a stomach filled with beer and a few bites of pretzel.

Woke up the next morning, went souvenir shopping, ate at Hard Rock Cafe and then another 9 hour bus ride home but this time it was during the day so we got to see the beautiful Bavarian Alps!

Such a lovely weekend.

Photos from my weekend in Milano

MILANO

This weekend was incredible!!! I will post pics later but I just need to get all my stories out now before I forget them.  So my roommates Xuan and Chelsea, and four other girls from an apartment down the street decided to take a trip to Milan to see deadmau5 and Steve Aoki—best idea ever!

Day 1: deadmau5

It cost 55 euro for a one way high speed rail from Florence to Milan; once we got off the train (just me and Xuan; the other girls came later), we met these high schoolers who were waiting for a free shuttle to the club, Bolgia, so we waited with them.  They were so drunk and raucous but anyway we get packed into the van and there wasn’t enough room so half of us had to stand in the trunk.  There were prob 50 people in that van, it was crazy!

And who do we meet while practically falling in the back of the van? John Thomas’ roommate from BC named Jony!  And a guy named Paolo from Milan who said he would give us a tour the following day.  Awesomeness.  So we get to Bolgia and it’s pouring rain but we meet a parking lot attendant who gives us a free ride to our hotel (2 km away) instead of calling a cab!!!! Why are people so nice here.  Anyway we get ready, chug a beer and a Red Bull and go into the club.  We go to the front standing pit area and literally are 5 feet from deadmau5 and everyone is moshing.  OMG there were these 2 ANNOYING girls right behind us who kept trying to shove their way in front of us.  I kept resisting and one of the girls literally grabbed my head and threw it -_- so i turn around and say “you need to stop” and she grabs my hands and sort of punched me in the face.   SOOOO PISSEDDD. but i just dealt cause i knew i would lose if i got into a fight.  anyway we leave that area and meet up with the girls who met these guys who were able to somehow get into the VIP elevated couch area on stage right so we had the best view of the LED light screen and deadmau5 and we were all leaning over the rails and DANCING!!!! ahhhh omg so fun. did that til 4 am. went back to the hotel, couldn’t sleep cause i had major eye wiggles and thought that the specks of dust on my sheets were bed bugs so i couldnt sleep til like 6 am, took two showers, and slept on a towel on top of all the covers. so cold, so basically i couldnt get a good sleep until 9 am when i asked Chelsea if i could use her towel as a blanket.

Day 2: Milano and STEVE AOKI

So we wake up at like 1 pm, and Chelsea leaves back to Florence. The other girls decide there’s all going to sleep (it was their first time raging like that) until Steve Aoki later that night.  But Xuan and I want to meet up with Paolo in Milano (which is 40 km away from our hotel/the club) so we arrive at Milano Centrale Station around 4 pm and meet up with Paolo and his friend Alessandro.  It kept pouring on and off, but they gave us the best tour ever of the city.  It was seriously the shittiest weather and I got drenched but the guys were really sweet and were excited to give us a tour of their city.  Milan, even in the grey, wet weather is BEAUTIFUL.  Paolo and Alessandro spoke pretty okay English and they shared historical facts and showed us their school and all the various squares and landmarks in the city.  Then we had aperitivi at a happy hour place which is basically you buy a drink and you get bomb buffet food for free! I got a white russian and it was really strong and good.  Then we get home with the soggiest coldest feet and bodies and Xuan misses the last train back to Florence so she just comes back with me to Dalmine.  She decided to just stay in the hotel and sleep but i went out back to Bolgia for Aoki!!! We get there around 1 am after having two drinks each at the hotel and Steve Aoki comes on and he plays WARP, Gifted, and I’m in the House as his first three opening songs.  You don’t even know how much i was rocking/jamming/dancing/going crazy/headbanging/jumping during those first 10 minutes. basically he played the best songs at the beginning so after it was all just screamo/hard core rock/hard electro except for a few good electro tracks.  the girls were all too tired and tori said she was kinda getting a panic attack so we left at 3 am and just went home and slept.

THE END!!!!

Went out last night sorta for my birthday I think?? Walked literally 3 miles to get to Dante’s but the food was cheap and yummy.  Florence is too beautiful.

Organic Market

Just got back from a monthly organic foods market in Piazza Santissima Annunziata.  So interesting and I liked it better than the Mercato Centrale—it was more personal.  I got a bunch of lettuce from an attractive seller and there was a snail on one of the leaves!!! Haha, you know it’s organic when there are snails on your produce…anyway I literally spent more than an hour just browsing the stands (multiple times).  I love farmer’s markets.  And even though I could barely speak Italian, everyone was so friendly and really helped me.  At one stand, I wanted to buy some juice but the label said “succa de susina”.  I asked the man what susina was but he didn’t know the english word for it. So another man came over named Luciano who helped out with his pocket dictionary. He was one of those old quirky men who want to talk and show you their things.

Anyway, last night was CRAZY.  We went to Space, an electronic discotecque, and it was funny cause there was already a crowd outside when we got there but they let NYU kids have priority.  Inside was nice, first drink free, 2 floors, but too many 30+ year old Italian creepers who think when you walk by they can just grab you. Not cool. haha but oddly all the foreigners like Dutch and French guys are super nice and polite. Annddd the best part was they played two of my fave songs in A ROWWW!!! “Why Don’t You” by Gramophonedzie and “We Speak No Americano” by Yolanda.  Made my night.

Today we went to Mercato Centrale, the biggest open air market in Firenze.  It was similar to the Grand Central Market in LA but of course cooler and better cause it was all Italian food!! I bought some sun-dried tomatoes, fruits, bread, olive oil, balsamic vinegar, olives, gorgonzola, and brie and it was all so cheap! I’m so glad I decided to study abroad here cause the food is bomb.
